Construction

A rock trencher begins initial construction south of
US Highway 50.

Construction of SDS will be conducted in two phases to meet water demand. The first phase began in 2011 and concludes in 2016. Phase I includes construction of 62 miles of raw and finished water pipelines, pump stations, and a water treatment plant. Phase II of the project will include the construction of a terminal storage reservoir at Upper Williams Creek and an exchange reservoir, including return flow diversion and conveyance, at Lower Williams Creek. Phase I

Pipeline Construction

  • Pueblo County:
    Pueblo West Pipeline--Construction under way. Construction began Sept. 26, 2011. Construction scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012. For those that would like to see a specialized map (see map) of where the project is in relation to their property, please send an e-mail with your address to sdsinfo@csu.org. Rock trenching is under way south of US Highway 50 with various other activities active along the alignment.

    Midway Ranches area Pipeline--Pre construction activities occurring. Construction scheduled to begin Nov. 15, 2012. Construction scheduled for completion by the end of 2012.

  • El Paso County:

    Marksheffel Road finished water pipeline--between Constitution Avenue and Meadow Brook Parkway: completed April 15th, 2011.

    Squirrel Creek Road pipeline near the Broadacre Landfill--construction under way. Construction began May 18th, 2011. Construction scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2012.

 

Pueblo Dam Area Projects

  • Pueblo Dam Connection: construction under way. Construction began May 9th, 2011. Construction scheduled

Phase II

Approximately 2020-2025

  • Construct terminal storage reservoir at Upper Williams Creek and an exchange reservoir, including return flow diversion and conveyance, at Lower Williams Creek.
