Employment Opportunities

Register for Business Opportunities

Contracting opportunities for the Southern Delivery System, Colorado Springs Utilities and many other agencies in Colorado may be found by accessing the e-Purchasing web site at www.rockymountainbidsystem.com.

This system offers both free access as well as reasonably priced subscription service options that provide the added benefit of electronic notifications of formal solicitation opportunities in your selected areas of interest (using commodity codes) from all of the participating Rocky Mountain system agencies.

Please visit the Website and click on the Vendor Registration link if you are not already an active registrant. The Bid Opportunities link will allow you to view all of the agencies' available bid titles and deadlines without registration, however you need to register to download details about each package.

SDS-related jobs

To date, the following prime contractors have been selected for work on the Southern Delivery System. Prime contractors will be responsible for hiring any sub-contractors needed to perform these work packages for the project. Job seekers should contact SDS prime contractors directly to inquire about their sub-contractors that are supporting SDS work, as well as for project-related employment opportunities.

Construction work on Phase 1 of SDS will begin this year and continue through 2016, adding jobs and infusing capital into local economies. Phase 1 construction costs are estimated at $550 million, including about $160 million for labor. An average of 380 workers is anticipated to work on the project between 2010-2016, with a peak employment of 700 workers in 2014. These workers will be hired by SDS prime contractors, and their sub-contractors, and will not be employed directly by Colorado Springs Utilities.

Colorado Springs Utilities hosted three business opportuniy workshops for contractors, suppliers and vendors in May 2010. The workshops held in El Paso, Pueblo and Fremont Counties, provided businesses with an opportunity to talk with project staff and learn more about the schedule and the types of goods and services needed for the project.

A presentation provided general project information, including the project's major components and construction schedule. Click here to view the PowerPoint presentation.
